Cole DeVault
Born and raised in Michigan, Cole developed a lifelong passion for angling starting at an early age. It permeated every aspect of his life.
After working at a Canadian fishing lodge for part of his summers through high school, Cole earned his degree in Fisheries Biology from Michigan State University. During that time, he began working seasonally in Alaska guiding for Alaska Fly Anglers guiding remote float trip expeditions in Katmai National Park.
After university, Cole traveled abroad during the off-season living out of a backpack to pursue trout on fly. Winters spent in New Zealand, Patagonia, and Central America offered an education in fly angling that built the foundation for his guiding abilities.
Summers continue to be spent floating the premier trout streams of the Alaskan wilderness, while fall through spring Cole hosts anglers on the quiet waters of Northern Michigan chasing steelhead and trout.
Driven by a desire to educate, Cole combines his angling exposure from 10 countries across the globe with his education in fisheries biology to offer a unique approach to the guided experience.

Why ‘Green Drake’ Outfitters?
“The Green Drake mayfly (drunella grandis) is one of the premier hatches in Alaska, prompting some of the most incredible dry fly fishing on the planet.
Witnessing the incredible angling that these delicate mayflies provided fueled my early passion for guiding. Their name will forever spark excitement in my mind” - Cole DeVault
